CalRecycle Funded Projects

The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle), administers tire grant programs to provide opportunities to divert waste tires from landfill disposal, prevent illegal tire dumping, and promote markets for recycled-content tire products. Tuolumne County Public Works staff has secured CalRecycle grants for the following projects:

Project #1722, Tuolumne Road Surface Treatment Project

Rubberized Chip Seal material funded in part by a grant from CalRecycle.

9,000 waste tired diverted from the waste stream for use in rubberized material.

Project #1715-9, Italian Bar Road Storm Damage Repairs, Sites 1-5:

Tire-Derived Aggregate (TDA) engineered fill material funded by a grant from CalRecycle.  

35,940 waste tires diverted from the waste stream for use as TDA on this project.

Project #1715-10, Buchanan Road Storm Damage Repairs:

Tire-Derived Aggregate (TDA) engineered fill material funded by a grant from CalRecycle.  

13,200 waste tires diverted from the waste stream for use as TDA on this project.

Project construction completed November 2019.

Project #1715-11, Italian Bar Road Storm Damage Repairs, Site 6

Tire-Derived Aggregate (TDA) engineered fill material funded by a grant from CalRecycle.  

32,000 waste tires diverted from the waste stream for use as TDA on this project.

Project #1716, Highway 120 Detour Maintenance Repairs (Jacksonville Road Chipseal)

Rubberized chipseal funded by a grant from CalRecycle.

7,000 waste tired diverted from the waste stream for use in rubberized material.

Project construction completed in 2019.
