What is WIC and how do I apply?
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides access to nutritious foods, nutrition counseling, referrals to health services and social services and breast feeding support and education to eligible participants at no charge.
WIC clients get:
• Nutrition and health assessment from Registered Dietitians and trained nutrition workers
• Individual nutrition counseling and group classes
• Breastfeeding help, including a Breastfeeding Helpline, breastfeeding peer counselors and breast pumps
• Help getting health insurance and finding a doctor or dentist
• Reminders about immunizations and other important health information
• Referrals to other community programs that help families
• Checks to buy healthy food items such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, milk, cheese, cereal, beans, and more.
