TutoringAdult Literacy Tutoring

The Tuolumne County Library provides free one-on-one, confidential tutoring for adults wanting to improve their reading, writing, math, or other skills. The hours and locations are flexible, designed to fit the busy schedules of adult learners. The learner works at their own pace and on the skills needed to improve their lives.


Share the gift of reading by becoming a volunteer tutor. You just need to be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma.

Basic ESL improves an individual’s listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through a simple to follow, and instructionally proven curriculum. Students learn English quickly and effectively on relevant topics including: family, home, school and many other topics. In each lesson students learn key vocabulary and how to use that vocabulary in conversation. No computer experience is necessary.
