Welfare-to-Work
Goal
The Welfare-to-Work Program serves CalWORKs recipients with the goal of self sufficiency through unsubsidized employment by providing individualized case management, supportive services, life skills training, and necessary employment and training services.About the Program
Participants must be receiving CalWORKs benefits to be eligible for this program. The Welfare-to-Work Program is designed to help Temporary Assistance to Needy Families(TANF) / CalWORKs clients in finding and retaining employment and upgrading to higher paying jobs that subsequently lead to financial self sufficiency and utilizing education and training when necessary.A custom case plan is created with the support and assistance from an employment and training case manager. The active involvement from the participant is necessary to ensure the case plan focuses on the participants strengths, interests, goals, and skills with employment in mind. Welfare-to-Work case managers also work closely with other agencies and education facilities to assist clients with their goals.
Participants may receive supportive services to carry out the goals of their case plan. These supportive services include childcare costs, transportation, work clothing, and other items necessary to employment. Referral services are also available to address barriers that can prevent successful employment such as substance abuse, domestic violence, legal, and mental health issues.
