Biography
Mr. Schmidt attended University of California, San Diego, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1994. He earned his Juris Doctor degree at Southwestern University School of Law in 1998. In 1999, he established Schmidt & Schmidt, LLP representing clients in business, probate and civil litigation matters.
Mr. Schmidt joined the Counsel’s Office as Deputy County Counsel in 2006. His current assignments include Airports, Assessor-Recorder, Auditor-Controller, Clerk, Treasurer-Tax Collector, Joint Powers Agencies, Sheriff-Coroner Civil-Records, Human Resources, Risk Management, Elections, Public Guardian, Public Administrator, Behavioral Health, Ambulance, Revenue Recovery, as well as representing the County in administrative proceedings, civil litigation, probate and mental health conservatorships, decedent estates, writs, and appeals. Mr. Schmidt also serves as alternate counsel for all juvenile dependency matters.
Mr. Schmidt enjoys family trips with his wife and two daughters, as well as the outdoors and home projects.
