"Art in the Library", a rotating exhibit at the Tuolumne County Library on Greenley Road in Sonora, features both tapestry weavings and oil paintings by Sydney Taylor for the month of September. “I would describe my art as eclectic – I work in oils, acrylics, colored pencils, collage, watercolor, and woven materials. Included in the exhibit is “Lioness of Sedona”, a landscape depicting a lioness in the rocks. In 1985, Taylor settled in Sonora, and began working at the Tuolumne County Library in the Children’s Room. “Again, my love of art was useful in teaching art classes, doing programs, and making posters and bookmarks. I retired from the library in 2006 but I still teach classes for the after school programs.” The public is invited to visit the library at 480 Greenley Rd. in Sonora to view the art on display each month.
