Update 2/16/2018
The CRA, Engineering Division is pleased to announce that the Kewin Mill Road Emergency Storm Damage Repair Project is complete! The project replaced the failed culvert crossing on Kewin Mill Road at Five Mile Creek with a new double culvert, concrete headwalls, rip rap channel protection, and paving. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this important project.


Update 1/25/2018
The CRA, Engineering Division is pleased to announce that the Kewin Mill Road Emergency Storm Damage Repair Project is approximately 90% complete. Work is suspended, today Thursday, January 25, 2018 until Monday, January 29, 2018 due to the weather. Paving of the roadway is scheduled for Monday, weather permitting, and residents can expect 10-15 minutes traffic delays on Monday during the work shift starting at 6:00 am until 6:00pm. Full roadway closures are not anticipated for the remainder of the project, but are still possible from 10:00 am-12:00 pm and 1:00 pm-3:00 pm, please plan accordingly. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation during this important project.

Update 1/3/2018
Construction on the culvert located on Kewin Mill Road at Five Mile Creek continues to progress. Sierra Mountain Construction, Inc., under contract with the County of Tuolumne, has completed stabilizing the new culvert pipes including protection of the channel, installed the headwall footings, and are currently pouring the headwalls this week (weather permitting).
Several factors influence the timing of temporary closures during construction. The type of work, weather, and construction delays are considered when deciding if the road will be closed. At this time, any closures to Kewin Mill Road at Five Mile Creek could occur daily between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. However, the contractor has accommodated the traveling public and allowed them to pass during these closure periods. We will update this page if the schedule for the daily closures change.

Update 12/21/2017
No construction is scheduled for Sunday, December 24th and Monday, December 25th.
As a reminder, daily construction closures may be in effect on Kewin Mill Road at Five Mile Creek daily between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thank you for your continued patience.
Update 12/12/2017
Sierra Mountain Construction, Inc. has started to move equipment into the area today. Regular work is anticipated to begin tomorrow, Wednesday, December 13th, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Regular construction closures may be in effect on Kewin Mill Road at Five Mile Creek daily between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Cedar Ridge - The Tuolumne County Board of Supervisors has awarded the Contract #1715-4, “Kewin Mill Road Emergency Storm Damage Repair” to Sierra Mountain Construction, Inc. to reconstruct the Kewin Mill Road crossing Five Mile Creek culvert. Construction is anticipated to begin December 6th, weather permitting.
Project updates will be posted to this website (https://www.tuolumnecounty.ca.gov/kewin) throughout the project.
Important points regarding the project are as follows:
- Construction will take approximately two months, weather permitting.
- Work is scheduled to take place between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Select work operations could extend the work hours and/or days.
- Kewin Mill Road will be reduced to one lane through the construction zone for the duration of the project.
- Kewin Mill Road will be closed at Five Mile Creek daily between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to accelerate the construction schedule.
- Kewin Mill Road will be subject to an extended closure to allow for work on the existing temporary bridge. The closure will be announced in advance.

An informational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Tuolumne County Fire Department Station 58 at 24190 Kewin Mill Road.
