Due to the large amounts of precipitation that we’ve
encountered this year, our soil infrastructure has become
oversaturated. The ground, river, and creeks cannot handle the recent
atmospheric river events . Thus we have seen some areas of flooding in
the county. The flooding in the foothills is different from the flooding we see
in the valley. In the valley, we can have large acreages impacted from
flood waters. Here in Tuolumne, the flooding is more in-line of expanding
creeks and drainages. A few great examples are Kewin Mill Road and Mormon
Creek Road. Mormon Creek has several homes that are only a few feet from
the creek yet they rely on a water well for their health and safety
needs. In some areas, the water levels of this
creek are expanding upon those homes private wells. The document attached is
intended to inform individuals that may have encountered flood waters above
their well to give them guidance about restoring their supply of safe water.
