Home visits can help you during the prenatal stage by:
- Creating a birth plan for your time at the hospital and the first few days at home
- Getting you and your home ready for your baby's arrival
- Promoting mother and child safety and health
- Providing teaching on breastfeeding, pregnancy, and newborn care
Home visits can help after delivery by:
- Making any referrals and contact your doctor as needed
- Offering breastfeeding support
- Promoting parent-child attachment
- Providing infant care teaching and answer questions
- Providing one to two home visits during your baby's first week of life
- Weighing and assessing your baby
WIC would like all breastfeeding mothers and babies to be supported their first week of life to help get off to a great start.
