Tuolumne County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) requires burn permits for any burning in which the vegetation being burned exceeds 2 acres.
Burn day information is usually updated daily (Monday-Friday) by 3 p.m. Current burn day information is also available by calling the burn line at: (209) 533-5598.
As of May 1st, 2023, CAL FIRE is requiring burn permits. Contact your local Cal Fire Station or Fire Station to inquire about burn permits or navigate to the CAL FIRE webpage to obtain your burn permit.
The Sonora Fire Department also requires burn permits within the city limits of Sonora.
